We start and end the trip in Leh and in the course of 8 days cover spectacular places and spots like Sham Valley, Nubra Valley, Lamayuru, Pangong Lake, and Daskit, visiting monasteries and palaces. You would also get ample time to explore local markets and get to understand the local culture better.

Itinerary

    Day 01: Leh Arrival

    Arrive at Leh airport. Get yourself greeted by our warm Ladakhi representative. After reaching the hotel enjoy a welcome tea/coffee .Suggest you to spend the remaining day to get yourself acclimatized in the high altitude of Leh. Ensure that you breathe slowly, stay hydrated at all times. Evening go for a visit to Leh palace and Shanti Stupa. Explore the local bazaar of Leh on your own. Enjoy hot dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

    Day 02: Leh to Sham Valley

    Early morning, have your breakfast and then proceed downstream along the River Indus towards Sham valley. Enroute we visit Gurudwara Patthar Sahib and gravity defying Magnetic Hill, along with a few ancient monasteries like Likir monastery which is considered to be one of the most active Buddhist Gompas amongst all others. On reaching the Gompa , you will come across a massive colossal gilded image of Maitreya out in the open , then you will go on to visit Ridzong Gompa where one can choose to walk up to the monastery . It’s hidden at the end of the steep valley. The first glimpse of the monastery is very striking. By evening we reach our camp. Spend overnight at the camp at sham valley.

    Day 03: Sham Valley to Leh Via Lamayuru

    Post breakfast you drive to the 11th century Lamayuru Monastery which is famous for its beautiful artifacts and mural paintings inside the Gompa. The drive is most interesting as you pass through the moon-land. It is said that the exact formation of land as visible here is there on the Moon. Lamayuru is perched on an elevated level, from where one gets a panoramic view of the distant Indus valley and Zanskar ranges. On your return journey to Leh, visit Alchi monastery which is most celebrated by the local villagers. Spend the evening at Leh and take a stroll around the local areas of Leh. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

    Day 04: Leh–Nubra Valley Via Khardung La 18,390 Ft.

    Have your breakfast early today as you will be embarking on an adventurous road journey to Nubra Valley, locally known as the valley of flowers. The road that leads to the valley goes via Khardung La which is famed to be the highest motor-able pass in the world at a height of 18390 feet. Enjoy a photo-op at the pass and proceed towards the Nubra valley. If you ever wondered about a place which could offer everything that nature has to offer in a platter starting from rocky to snowy mountains, rivers, sand dunes, deserts, the answer would be Nubra Valley. Visiting Nubra is an out of the world experience in itself. Upon arrival, check in to the camp for an overnight stay.`

    Day 05: Nubra Valley – Leh

    Today finish your breakfast early as you will be driving to Hunder where you will get a chance to ride a double humped Bactrian camel still existing in this part of the world amidst the sand dunes of a high altitude desert with snowcapped mountains in the foreground. The landscape between Deskit and Hunder offers you both the harsh arid mountains with boulder fields to snowcapped mountains and rolling sand dunes.

    Later visit Deskit monastery which is lying at a hilltop from where you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the Nubra valley. Return to Leh by late evening. You may take some rest or if you still have the curious bone tickling, go out in the local markets of Leh and try to know of their culture.

    Day 06: Leh To Pangong Lake

    Post a sumptuous breakfast, we drive to Pangong Lake and on the way we visit Shey Palace which is the ancient capital of Ladakh & 3 Idiots famed Rancho school. As we drive further we halt at Thiksey monastery. The entire landscape of today's journey is picturesque as you also pass via Chang La. The winding road drive passing by several small villages will lead you to the spectacular Blue Pangong Lake. After reaching your destination, check in to the camp and explore the surroundings, post that return to the camp for an overnight stay.

    Day 07: Pangong Lake to Leh

    Spend the morning at leisure to explore the beauty of lake one last time to your heart’s content and then leave for Leh and visit Hemis Gompa on the way, the largest monastic foundation of Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism. In the evening you can stroll around the market place for some last minute souvenir shopping and return to the hotel for overnight stay.

    Day 08: Depart Leh

    As all good things come to an end, this trip does too. You leave for the airport for your journey back home.
